A Note from the Juror:
...The one painter that I chose for recognition, Preston Link, probably speaks most directly to the problematic of aesthetic criteria. Funny, raw, and dangerously close to being stupid and pathetic, he impressed me above much more accomplished work. What I adored about these paintings is what I found most exhilarating in all the work I experienced....
